Chris Cagle
I'm Chris Cagle, the founder of One Less Choice. I want to be upfront about what I am and what I'm not: I'm not a certified financial planner or an advisor. I'm a parent who got tired of the paycheck-to-paycheck scramble and the nightly "what's for dinner?" panic, and I started building spreadsheets to get ahead of both.
Those spreadsheets turned into One Less Choice, a budgeting and meal-planning app built on one idea: decide in advance. Allocate your money before payday, plan your meals before the 6pm rush, and set a debt payoff date, so that when you're tired, hungry, or tempted, the decision is already made.
Everything I write here comes from actually running these systems for my own family, cross-checked against primary sources like the USDA food plans and the CFPB. Where I state a number, I cite where it came from. Where something is my opinion or my experience, I say so.
What I write about
- Zero-based budgeting and giving every dollar a job
- Paying off debt (avalanche vs. snowball) without burning out
- Feeding a family well without blowing the grocery budget
- Building budgets that survive real life, irregular income, kids, and decision fatigue
